Has It Begun

In “Has It Begun”, twelve characters allow for dissolution, much like shifting notes in a song. Renea RIviera, the fashion designer handcrafted twelve outfits that emphasised the role of the character within the play, The shimmering set, consisted of three refracting rooms made from insulation material, creating a luminous, reflective environment that both mirrored and amplified the performers. The reflective surfaces highlighted the clothing on each performer, making the garments and the bodies inhabiting them inseparable from the architecture of the set. The play/runway was enveloped in a musical soundscape by Andrés Lupone & Alexis Gómez, featuring a unique sound profile for each character. The low budget project involved off the shelf material construction, and the fabrication of a series of Benches for Donald (Judd), an ongoing BASA furniture experiment. The classic New York Gallery space was wrapped meticulously, around every column, radiator, and corner.
