Weight of Time

A gallery space was turned into an hourglass - a land art piece, a piece of the shore. Bags of sand suspended from the ceiling by rope, the room slowly filled, day after day, performance after performance. A written ritual and record were transcribed with each session. The space activated by perfomance dancer and musician with a gong. Tensions between gallery direction and our team led to a covert replacement of the sand to 'artificial sand', sparking thoughts of natural versus un-natural, meaning, and embodied memory.
